Good for her, not for me

One thing you realise through the motherhood journey is that everyone’s story is different. There are a great deal of similarities but mostly, because we are fundamentally different people who’ll experience the same experiences differently, we should steer clear of judging women for their personal journeys. This is why the mantra, “Good for her! Not for me” resonated with me immediately.

The mom who tells you she religiously stayed committed to her gym regimen throughout her pregnancy? Good for her! Not for me. Not then anyway. This motto taken from Amy Poehler’s book, ‘Yes Please’.

I stand fully behind former US president, Theodore Roosevelt’s timeless words, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” We all come into situations where we might doubt ourselves a little, but for the most part, if you’re doing your best and have a happy, healthy child and family, there should be no competition.
